Marketing News: March 1, 2018

Marketing-related news, articles, and blog posts I found most interesting today.

  • Content marketing: establish thought leadership – process includes: conducting content experiments for data-driven insights, monthly Agile marketing sprints, Asana content marketing sprint boards, daily scrums in Google Hangouts, and logging tasks via Slack (source: Content Marketing Institute)
  • Video marketing: ranking first on YouTube – steps comprise: research keyword and their rankings, outline and script video (introduction or preview, steps or list of tips, and conclusion or call to action), produce video (good camera, good lighting, and high-quality audio), upload video and optimize it around chosen keyword (in video itself, title, description, and tags), and promote video (via email to subscribers and social media) (source: HubSpot)
  • eCommerce sites: SEO mistakes – check your eCommerce site for the following issues: duplicate content, too many irrelevant, low-performance indexed content pages, not enough or too much user-generated content, lack of keyword optimization of existing pages, and bad link architecture (poor semantic structure, excessive link depth, lack of prioritization, insufficient links) (source: Search Engine Watch)
  • YouTube video promotion: Google AdWords – promote YouTube videos to your audiences by targeting placement to reach viewers of other channels, life events, custom affinities with certain applications or websites, location and language, and keywords to optimize ad spend (source: Social Media Examiner)
